irrigation

Irrigation systems are a sure-fire way to ensure that your crops are watered an appropriate amount and within their specific requirements, particularly if your irrigation system is set up with a timer. This allows you to control the intensity of the flow and at periods when it would most benefit the crops.

Which is why it makes perfect sense to apply your fertiliser in the same way. Applying your fertiliser through an irrigation system can reduce time and labour requirements, thereby reducing production costs. The fertiliser amount can also be controlled easier as it is diluted in the water already filtering through the irrigation system and so there will be less wastage also saving you money.

If your irrigation system is automated, you can control the level of fertiliser spread dependent on the age or type of plants growing as well as the amount distributed throughout the polytunnel if you have a variety of plants growing in there at differing stages of growth.

This is not a recent idea and so several fertiliser suppliers already offer a wide range of readily available fertilisers, specially tailored for irrigation systems, the crops being grown, as well as any other specific requirements you may have.

Northern Polytunnels also offer a range of irrigation systems that are more than suitable for spreading fertiliser around your crops that can be fully automated to suit the needs of the plants growing in your polytunnel.
