Hardy trees, shrubs and vines, including azaleas, camellias, rhododendrons and tree ferns are not always suited to the growing environment a polytunnel provides. Shade Halls provide semi-shading and protection from direct sunlight, which is essential for nursery stock at various levels of growth.
The shade halls are manufactured from 50mm (2”) diameter, MG35 high tensile pre-galvanised steel tubing. The structure is based on a grid layout, with each section of the grid measuring 3.75m x 3.75m, and the overall height being approximately 2.7m. Ideal for creating irregular-shaped structures.
This economic design of the shade house allows excellent accessibility and full use of the floor area. The roof of the shade hall is clad with Paraweb. This heavy duty material gives 40-45% shade. Crucially, the flat tape design of Paraweb allow the straps to tip to either side when loaded with snow, making this flat roof design suitable for the UK climate especially in high snow fall regions.
The sides of the shade house are clad with 40% shade netting, which is manufactured from a knitted polyethyl ene monofilament. Clear sections can be left for access, al ternatively doors are available with the structure, each measuring 0.89m wide x 2.55m high. Both of these materials allow free air circulation, but provide shelter from strong winds, which could otherwise cause damage to plants.
