The aluminium fixing rail is available as a simple lightweight rail incorporating a ‘C’ channel, or as a beefy aluminium box section, also incorporating a ‘C’ channel. The same ‘W-Wire’ is used for both.
The lightweight ‘C’ rail is generally used to secure the polythene inside polytunnel gutters or can be screwed on to timber. Its pliable aluminium nature enables it to be attached over the curve of the polytunnel hoops allowing the polythene to be secured to the ends of your polytunnel. 50mm and 60mm hoop fittings can be supplied and would normally be positioned every metre.
The heavy-duty aluminium box section is used for polytunnel side rails, base rails and end frames. Box joiners/inserts are used to connect individual lengths together to form a long straight run. The ‘T’ slot in the back of the box section takes an M8 hexagon bolt head allowing it to be fastened to polytunnel hoops using two M8 bolts with an exhaust clamp pressing.
Corner brackets are also available (email sales@npstructures.co.uk or phone 01282 873120 for details).
Our ‘W-Wire’ is 2.3mm diameter (not the standard 2mm) and is both galvanised and plastic coated for longer life, making it 2.9mm diameter with the plastic coating. Each length is 2m long, extending to 2.2m when clipped into the ‘C’ channel.
